Major new artwork unveiled to welcome visitors to Leeds

EYE-CATCHING WORK by Leeds artists is brightening up corners of the city centre.

A new 20-metre mural has been unveiled at Kirkgate Market, close to Leeds Bus Station and Victoria Gate.

The artwork, which reads ‘Hello and Welcome to Leeds,’ was commissioned by the Leeds Business Improvement District (BID) and is part of a series of art installations.

Local artist Nathan Evans said: “This street is going through major change so it was an honour to be able to brighten it up.”

Andrew Cooper, chief executive at Leeds BID, said: “The investment is bringing unique pieces of major public art to animate Kirkgate Market and George Street.”
