Few fans of the beautiful game can have as much to cheer about as Dave Tomlinson.

Not only is his beloved Leeds United back in the top-flight of English football after 16 years in the wilderness, but he has just published his fifth book on the Elland Road club - Bielsa’s Leeds: Redemption.

The 60-year-old NHS finance director and founder and editor of the mightyleeds.co.uk website has become an authority on the team he’s supported all of his life.

The plight of the club since they fell through the Premier League trapdoor is a lesson to supporters everywhere, but Dave believes that United’s return to glory proves that literally anything is possible.

"Bielsa’s Leeds: Redemption is about how Marcelo Bielsa, one of the world’s greatest coaches, led Leeds back to the promised land of the Premier League after years in the doldrums," said Dave, who was the voice of the typical Leeds United fan in a recent feature by BBC TV’s Football Focus on the rivalry between Leeds and Chelsea.

"It covers how Andrea Radrizzani bought the club and led it back to normality after years of chaos."

Leeds United celebrated its centenary last year by wining promotion and has won many friends with the way that Marcelo Bielsa and the players have set about their first season back in the Premier League.

Dave added: ‘Bielsa’s Leeds: Redemption covers a very special period in the history of Leeds United and the people that shaped it. I particularly wanted to explore the highs and lows experienced by the fans over that period and this book tells the story of what life was like for them this last twenty years. I think that comes across well.

"This is the story from the perspective of five fictional Leeds United supporters and includes some choice language at key points on the journey back to glory."

Last year Dave published Dirty Leeds: The First Title, the first part of a trilogy with books in the pipeline covering the eras of the club’s second and third championships. He’s also planning another book about Leeds United’s time under Ken Bates.
